Also known as Type III paracord is made up of a kernmantle construction, which means it has a core (kern) of seven twisted nylon strands, surrounded by a braided outer sheath (mantle). The inner strands can be removed and used separately, giving the paracord added versatility. The outer sheath is also made of nylon and can be used for various purposes, such as fishing line or sewing thread.
